Upcoming
artiste, Fakayode Kabir aka Blaq Prinx, has lamented the way upcoming
artistes are being treated in the industry. The young crooner stated
that they were not being given due recognition and hardly get paid for
shows. He stated that these do not happen to established artistes and
people forget that these big artistes were once freshers.
The
hip-hop act currently in his fourth year in the University of Ilorin,
Blaq Prinx stated that it has not been easy combining work with studies
but he cannot drop neither as they are both important to him.
He
said, “It is not fair the way upcoming artistes are being treated. They
invite us to shows without paying us; sometimes we get to shows and beg
just to get on stage. Things like these are not encouraging. We write
our songs, record them and promote them at the end of the day, we are
invited for free shows. People should appreciate us more. Most of the
time we go to such shows so that people would know us.”
