Eleven
outstanding members of staff, including two professors, one of whom is
deceased, were last Thursday (October 23, 2014) given the Merit Awards
of the University of Ilorin in recognition of their invaluable
contributions to the progress and development of the institution.
The Award ceremony and luncheon, which climaxed the 30th convocation
ceremonies of the institution, took place at the newly commissioned
Unilorin Multi-Purpose Hall.
The awardees were Prof. Oshungade Isaac Olayiwola of the Department
of Mathematics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, the late Professor
Akanmidu Raphael Adebisi, Department of Religions, Faculty of Arts, who
bagged a post-humous award. Others were Mr Ahon-Usi Stephen Odafen, a
Chief Confidential Secretar and Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor; Mr.
Olusanya Tayo Morufu, Works Department; Mr. Salami Bamidele, Registry;
Mrs. Olorunoje Ramat Aduni, Registry; Mr. Martins Emmanuel Oladele,
Bursary; Mr Abel Olatunde Stephen, Bursary; Mr Raufu Maliki, University
Health Services; Mr Olotu Olanrewaju Thomas, Department of Mathematics,
and Miss Mustapha Haleemah Adebayo of Department of Civil Engineering.
